On March 14th from 17:00 – 20:00 the Virtual Cinema Lab invites all interested to a kick-off event at Studio Kipsari at Otakaari 7.
Kick-off with peer-to-peer learning
The purpose of the event is to enable knowledge exchange & exploration while connecting students, educators, XR enthusiasts, and industry professionals. Game engines are tools available for game designers to code and plan out a game quickly and easily without building one from the ground up. Whether they are 2D or 3D based, they offer tools to aid in asset creation and placement. At the kick-off the focus will be on Game Engines for creating interactive real-time art.
Everybody can participate in the kickoff. Virtual Cinema Lab describes it as: “If you know something about games or game engines – great if not, trhat’s also good.” The sessions are based on peer-to-peer learning and the focus is on learn and explore together. The attendees will thereby not become proficient in one particular thing or get a theoretical understanding of all the functions, but to gain a general, practical insight into what is possible with each tool.
Monthly learning session
At the kick-off, it is possible to sign up and join our monthly peer learning sessions to explore how we can use the tools and conventions of game developers for making art. The aim of each sessions aim is to explore the technical basics and do tutorials in order to get a basic practical understanding, so participants can start building small experiments. In addition, the sessions will dive deeper into exploring the possibilities of art and technology. Virtual Cinema Lab explains: “It’s mainly about having fun and trying to learn to approach new technologies with a happy-go-lucky attitude!” To join the sessions by sign up here: Apply here
