Types of Machines
In terms of booking, there are two types of machines at Aalto Fablab.
- Personal Fabrication Machines
- Specialized Machines
1. Personal Fabrication Machines
Personal fabrication machines can be booked by everyone who has done an introduction course. They are generally easy to use and do not break that often. However, we advice to be careful when working with them as they are a common resource that should be usable by everyone in the university. These include the following.
- FDM 3D printers
- SRM-20 PCB milling machine
- Recontech 1312 CNC milling machine
- MDX-40 3D milling machine
- Laser cutter
- Roland GX-24 Vinyl cutter
- Vacuum former
All of those you can book via Aalto Takeout service. You will need a permit. Book an introduction session to acquire one.
2. Specialized Machines
Specialized machines are also fabrication machines, but a bit more complicated. They are a bit more expensive and have more features, thus they are a bit more complicated to use. Workshop master presence is needed to make sure that the machine does not break and it is left in order so it can be used for new projects immediately. These include the following.
- Book SLA 3D printers
- Book Roland color printer and vinyl cutter
- Book Bungard CCD/2 PCB milling machine
