Welcome to the podcast studio.
The Aalto Studios Podcast studio is designed for a podcast of up to four people. The studio is located on the second floor of the Marsio building.

To book a studio, you need to log in to the Aalto-Takeout website with your Aalto ID.

In this short video, we will show you how to use the Podcast Studio.
Rodecaster Pro II
To store your recordings, you need a UHS-1 Micro SD card or a USB-C compatible hard drive. You can plug the USB-C drive into either port 1 or 2 on the back of the device.

The studio equipment includes a Rodecaster Pro II audio interface with 4 microphones and 4 headphones. The studio table also has an extension cord that allows you to charge your own equipment.

Turn on the Rodecaster using the button on the back of the unit.

The volume of the mics is controlled by the first four faders.

By default The fifth fader controls the volume of the Bluetooth device and the sixth fader controls the volume of the sound effects played from smartpads. The faders can be edited in the Rodecaster’s Fader settings.

The volume of the headphones can be adjusted with four headphone knobs.

Adjust the volumes of the required mics so that the signal does not exceed the green level.

Then adjust the headphone volumes to the appropriate levels.

Before recording, double-check that none of the necessary microphones are muted and that no sound effects are turned on.
Effects
Sound effects are controlled from the effects menu.

The Effects menu contains sound effects for voice processing as well as background music.

The effects are activated from the menu and played using the smart pads.

Press the record button to start recording. You can pause the recording by pressing the record button again. To end the recording, press and hold the record button.

Records can be found in the “Show” section of Rodecaster.

Wrap up the session
When you leave, set the fader and headphone levels to zero and turn off the Rodecaster. Remember to take your own MicroSD card.
